Grown-Up Getaways Ahoy: Marella Discovery Sets Sail Adults-Only for Summer 2026

If sun-soaked coastlines, ancient ruins, and zero chance of cannonball contests at the pool sound like your dream vacation, Marella Cruises just made your 2026.

The cruise line has officially announced that Marella Discovery will set sail as an adult-only ship for summer 2026, with its homeport in Limassol, Cyprus. That’s right, grown-up getaways just got a whole lot more Mediterranean.

The decision follows strong demand for child-free cruising and the ongoing success of Marella Explorer 2, Marella’s first dedicated adult-only ship. With bookings open as of 17th October 2024, travellers looking for peaceful pool decks and elegant evenings can now plan for a summer of serenity.

Guests aboard Marella Discovery can choose from three round-trip itineraries, all sailing from Limassol and showcasing the gems of Cyprus, Greece, and Turkey:

·         Grecian Discovery: A classic lineup with stops in Piraeus, Santorini, Bodrum, Crete, and Rhodes.

·         Aegean Gems: Think Crete, Izmir, Mykonos (twice!), and a return to Limassol.

·         Aegean Delights: A rich mix featuring Kos Town, Kusadasi, Patmos, Marmaris, and Alanya.

Chris Hackney, Managing Director of Marella Cruises, shared that the move was guided by customer insight: “Three quarters of customers said adult only ships were important to them when making a booking.” With that in mind, the expansion aims to bring even more cruisers new and seasoned alike into the Marella family.

So, whether you're dreaming of sipping cocktails in Mykonos or soaking up the history in Rhodes without little ones underfoot, Marella Discovery’s 2026 summer season might just be your perfect escape.
