Carnival Sunshine and Carnival Spirit Announce New Homeports and Itineraries
New sailings, expanded routes, and Caribbean hotspots on the schedule
Carnival Cruise Line just refreshed its 2027/28 deployment plans, and let’s just say the itinerary board got a lively makeover. In a switch that brings some extra sparkle to two fan-favourite homeports, Carnival Sunshine is heading to Galveston for the very first time, while Carnival Spirit is charting a new course to Tampa.
Carnival Sunshine, built to carry 3,000 guests, will boost Galveston’s capacity right where demand is soaring. Starting November 2027, cruisers can dive into a lineup of four- to 10-day Caribbean adventures. The shorter sailings stick to classics like Cozumel and Progreso, while the longer voyages scatter across the Caribbean in true island-hopping fashion. Think Belize, Celebration Key, RelaxAway (Half Moon Cay), Grand Turk, Amber Cove, Limón, Colón, Isla Tropicale, Roatán, Grand Cayman, and Montego Bay. Sunshine is also debuting eight brand-new sailings, including a standout 10-day itinerary calling on Cozumel, Isla Tropicale, Montego Bay, and Grand Cayman.
Make a splash on the Carnival Spirit
Over on Florida’s Gulf Coast, Carnival Spirit is setting up shop in Tampa with a mix of six-, seven-, and eight-day Caribbean sailings. Guests can look forward to stops in Belize, Isla Tropicale, Grand Cayman, Ocho Rios, Cozumel, and Progreso. Spirit will also roll out six eight-day Panama Canal voyages featuring Limón, Grand Cayman, and Colón. And for long-cruise lovers, January 30, 2028 brings a special 13-day sailing packed with bucket-list appeal.
According to Carnival President Christine Duffy, the swap lets the cruise line serve even more eager travellers in Galveston while giving Tampa guests a fresh selection of longer Caribbean getaways. More options, more sunshine, more reasons to pack a suitcase, sounds like smooth sailing ahead.
