More Fjords, More Wow: Holland America Line Adds Flåm and Hellesylt to 2027 Cruises
The updated Rotterdam itineraries bring guests closer to Nærøyfjord, Storfjorden and some of Norway’s most spectacular landscapes.
If Norway’s spectacular fjords are on your cruise wish list, Holland America Line has just given you another reason to keep an eye on its 2027 sailings.
Five seven-day cruises aboard Rotterdam have been updated to include calls at Flåm and Hellesylt, giving guests even more opportunities to experience some of Norway’s most impressive scenery.
And when your holiday involves mountains, waterfalls, fjords and tiny villages surrounded by all three, you might find yourself spending rather a lot of time standing on deck with your camera.
Flåm joins three Rotterdam cruises
Three of the updated cruises will depart on 30 May, 27 June and 1 August 2027, combining some of Norway’s best-known cities and fjord destinations.
Guests will visit Oslo, Kristiansand, Sandnes (Stavanger) and Flåm, with scenic cruising through the Sognefjord and Oslofjord also included.
Flåm is one of those destinations that seems almost designed to make your camera work overtime. It's also the gateway to the spectacular Nærøyfjord, which is part of a UNESCO World Heritage-listed area.
For those who fancy swapping the ship for a little adventure on land, the famous Flåmsbana Railway offers a journey through Norway’s mountains.
So yes, there will be plenty of opportunities to see Norway from the ship, and then see it from a train winding through the mountains. Not a bad combination.
Hellesylt brings even more fjord scenery
Two more Rotterdam cruises, departing 25 July and 8 August 2027, will head into the heart of Norway’s fjord country.
These itineraries will call at Eidfjord, Hellesylt, Ålesund and Bergen, alongside scenic cruising through the Hardangerfjord and Storfjorden.
Storfjorden is the gateway to the famous Geirangerfjord, giving guests access to another of Norway’s most celebrated natural wonders.
With dramatic mountains, waterfalls and viewpoints surrounding the region, it’s fair to say the scenery is doing quite a lot of the entertaining here.
Breath taking views in the Norwegian Fjords
Two UNESCO-listed fjord regions
The cruises will bring guests closer to both the Nærøyfjord and Geirangerfjord regions, which UNESCO recognises as being among the most spectacular fjord areas in the world.
Holland America Line says the updated itineraries are designed to give guests more opportunities to experience Norway's scenery, history and landscapes.
And while we can't promise how many photographs you'll come home with, we suspect the answer will be somewhere between "quite a few" and "my phone storage is full".
More ways to explore Northern Europe in 2027
Norway is part of a wider Holland America Line Northern Europe season in 2027, with three ships, Rotterdam, Nieuw Statendam and Zuiderdam, sailing across the region.
Guests can choose from itineraries ranging from seven days to up to 21 days, visiting destinations across Norway, Iceland, Greenland, the British Isles, Scandinavia and the Baltic.
There are opportunities to explore historic cities, discover Viking heritage and take in some seriously impressive natural landscapes along the way.
Holland America Line also brings more than 150 years of European history to the region, having been founded in Rotterdam in 1873.
For these five Rotterdam cruises, though, the headline is very much the scenery.
With Flåm and Hellesylt now added, guests have even more chances to experience Norway's famous fjords, and even more reasons to find a good spot on deck, grab a coffee and simply watch the mountains go by.
Just remember to leave some room in your camera roll.
Until next time, keep dreaming of your next cruise.
