Ocean Cay Gets Even Better: MSC Cruises Announces Major Island Upgrades

From family fun to adults-only relaxation, Ocean Cay is getting even better

Since opening in late 2019, Ocean Cay has quickly become a must-visit destination on MSC Cruises’ Caribbean itineraries. Located in The Bahamas, the island is a shining example of the cruise line’s commitment to marine conservation, transforming a former industrial site into a beautiful private island with crystal-clear waters and powder-soft white sand.

With more than two miles of beachfront across eight beaches, Ocean Cay blends natural beauty with thoughtful design, offering guests plenty of space to relax, explore, and unwind.

The island already offers a wide range of experiences, including seven bars, Seakers Food Court, food trucks, and a variety of water activities. Guests can also choose from a broad selection of shore excursions, from snorkelling and watersports to climbing the iconic lighthouse and spotting local wildlife.

Everything is spread out to keep the island feeling open, calm, and comfortably uncrowded, no small detail when paradise is the destination.

From late 2027, guests can look forward to an exciting line-up of new facilities and experiences designed to elevate every island visit.

Four new dining experiences will be added, bringing the total to seven venues. Highlights include a signature specialty restaurant, along with new buffet and food market options, perfect for everything from relaxed beach bites to memorable sit-down meals.

Seakers Cove will receive a major upgrade, transforming into a vibrant family zone with a children’s playground, splashpad, and a ropes course featuring water elements. The area will also include ping-pong and foosball, plus organised activities, tournaments, and interactive games, creating a truly multi-generational beach experience.

From family fun to adults-only relaxation, Ocean Cay is getting even better with MSC

A new adults-only beach will offer a peaceful retreat by day, before transforming into a stylish sunset spot for cocktails and ocean views, because quiet luxury has its place too.

Guests will also see a wider range of cabanas available to rent, offering additional choice for those looking to enjoy the island in extra comfort and style.

The island will also debut the MSC Foundation “Shifting Perspective” Experience, an immersive attraction inviting guests to explore marine conservation through hands-on activities. From coral restoration and scientific discovery to interactive learning about ocean ecosystems, it’s designed to inspire and educate in equal measure, led by the work of the MSC Foundation.

Construction is already underway on extending Ocean Cay’s pier to accommodate two ships at the same time. Since vessels dock directly at the island, guests can walk ashore with ease. Once completed in late 2027, the extended pier will allow even more guests to enjoy the island on the same day, smoothly and efficiently.

Work is also continuing on a second private island destination located next to Ocean Cay. Known internally as “Little Cay,” this future retreat will follow the same ethos, connecting guests with nature, pristine beaches, and the beauty of the ocean, while offering luxury facilities and water features.

With these upgrades on the way, Ocean Cay is set to become an even more memorable highlight of any MSC Caribbean cruise, sun, sea, and serenity included.
