Royal Caribbean Expands Artist Discovery Program on Legend of the Seas

New murals will celebrate Caribbean and Central American culture at sea

Royal Caribbean just shared some feel-good news that blends cruising with creativity, and it’s a beautiful match. This summer, the vacation brand is expanding its Artist Discovery Program aboard Royal Caribbean’s newest Icon Class ship, Legend of the Seas, giving even more emerging artists a chance to shine on a global stage.

Art That Reflects the Destinations We Love

The expanded program will now spotlight up-and-coming artists not only from the Caribbean, but also from Central America. The goal? To create culturally immersive experiences that connect guests with the regions they’re sailing through, before they even step ashore.

According to Michael Bayley, the program is all about celebrating local culture and creativity while offering guests something truly memorable. And with Legend of the Seas increasing its mural locations from four to six, there’s even more room for bold, inspiring artwork to come to life.

Larger-Than-Life Murals at Sea

Selected artists will be commissioned to paint large-scale murals in six high-visibility locations onboard, including:

  • The Royal Promenade neighborhood

  • The embarkation area

  • The Suite Sundeck Lobby

  • The Suite Sundeck

Each piece is designed to immerse guests in the creative spirit of the Caribbean and Central America, turning the ship itself into a floating gallery.

How Artists Can Apply

Artists interested in joining the Artist Discovery Program can submit their work now through March 1. Submissions must include:

  • Five original conceptual samples (not previously published or displayed)

  • A short artist statement explaining inspiration and vision

  • A current resume

This next group of artists will join those already featured on Icon of the Seas, Star of the Seas, and at Royal Beach Club Paradise Island in Nassau, The Bahamas.

Where Legend of the Seas Will Sail

Legend of the Seas is set to elevate summer vacations in Europe in 2026 with 7-night Western Mediterranean sailings from Barcelona and Rome (Civitavecchia). Guests can look forward to unforgettable stops in destinations like Marseille, Naples, and Palma de Mallorca.

In November 2026, Legend will make its Caribbean debut from Fort Lauderdale, offering Western and Southern Caribbean itineraries, including visits to Aruba and Curaçao. Every Caribbean sailing also includes a stop at Perfect Day at CocoCay, Royal Caribbean’s top-rated private island experience.

Art, Culture, and Vacation Magic

With this expanded Artist Discovery Program, Royal Caribbean continues to show that cruising isn’t just about where you go, it’s about how you experience it. On Legend of the Seas, art will move, inspire, and tell the stories of the destinations guests love most, all while sailing into the sunset
