Big Upgrades, Bigger Fun: Carnival Encounter Returns Refreshed

A Refreshed Experience from Deck to Deck

If you’ve been dreaming of your next sunny escape, Carnival Cruise Line has just delivered some exciting news, its Brisbane-based ship, Carnival Encounter, is getting a full refresh while in dry dock in Singapore, and it’s shaping up to be quite the glow-up.

Set to return to Brisbane on 20 March, the ship will come back looking and feeling brand new, with updates designed to bring more fun, more relaxation, and a little extra sparkle to every voyage.

First impressions matter, and Carnival Encounter is making a bold one with Carnival’s signature red, white, and deep blue livery getting a fresh new finish. It’s a classic look, now even more eye-catching as she sails back into Queensland waters.

For those who cruise for relaxation (and let’s be honest, who doesn’t?), the all-new Cloud 9 Spa™ Thermal Suites are set to be a standout. Guests can unwind in saunas, steam baths, and heated thermal lounges, perfect for switching into full holiday mode.

Whether you’re booking a day pass or indulging for the entire cruise, this new space is all about carving out that blissful “do not disturb” moment at sea.

The outer decks are getting a well-deserved refresh too. All five pools are being revitalised, and all seven Jacuzzi tubs are being replaced, creating a more polished and comfortable space to soak up the sunshine.

Families haven’t been forgotten. The onboard basketball court is getting a resurfacing, complete with new hoops and netting, ideal for a friendly (or competitive!) game at sea.

And for thrill-seekers, the popular Twin Racer waterslides are being upgraded for a smoother, faster ride. Expect a few more laughs, and maybe a bit of sibling rivalry, on the way down.

It’s not just what guests can see. The dry dock also includes energy-saving upgrades to improve efficiency, along with enhancements to crew areas, ensuring the team behind the fun enjoys a refreshed space too.

After departing Singapore on 5 March, Carnival Encounter will make her way home via Lombok and Bali before arriving back in Brisbane. From there, she’ll resume her year-round sailings to some of Australia and the South Pacific’s most-loved destinations, including Airlie Beach, the Great Barrier Reef, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Fiji, and Papua New Guinea.

With refreshed spaces, new experiences, and plenty of ways to relax or play, Carnival Encounter is ready to welcome guests back onboard, just in time for more unforgettable days at sea.
