From clean water to shelter materials, MSC’s response strengthens Jamaica’s humanitarian efforts
Making Waves of Hope: MSC Delivers Water, Shelter & Support to Jamaica
MSC just shared an update that’s as heartfelt as it is important, as the company steps in to support Jamaica after the devastating effects of Hurricane Melissa. When the storm made landfall on October 28, communities across the island were left facing urgent needs, and MSC has wasted no time in lending a hand.
Help Delivered by Sea
With support from MSC Cruises, MSC Divina arrived in Ocho Rios on November 11 carrying 3,360 gallons of bottled water and 264 tarpaulins. These supplies were chosen to meet the immediate needs identified by relief agencies, clean drinking water and reliable shelter materials that families can use right away.
A Larger Wave of Support
Beyond the essentials delivered by ship, the MSC Foundation and MSC Group have committed to a major logistical lift. They’re providing free ocean transport for 12 containers of relief supplies from the United States and have donated 14 containers to support local non-profits with aid distribution and storage. These contributions are designed to strengthen the operational capacity of partners responding on the ground, helping them reach more people, faster.
Additional efforts are already being mobilized as MSC continues coordinating with the Government of Jamaica’s national response.
In moments like these, the cruise community shows just how powerful compassion can be, on land, at sea, and everywhere in between.
